My vision is to capture through photos, poems, and stories one experience of the depths of depression. I want to share this with others, particularly with those who are just starting to understand the illness of depression, with the friends and family around us, and with those who cope with depression every day. I want to show and remind us how much depression filters our experiences every day.

As a photographer, I have the ability to use a lens to capture what the world looks like through the eyes of one with depression. I have the ability to alter the appearance of everyday scenes to show the filtering that occurs as we look out on the world. These pictures may not represent every person with this illness, but they give a point of reference to begin discussions.

As a person with chronic depression, I've lived through the world shown in these pictures and writings. I have experienced the darkness seen throughout the sections of this site as well as the hope that makes it through the dark filters. Today, my world is colored both with greyness and with hope, changing from moment to moment. The poem Dare I? reflects this battle between hope and the fear of feeling hope in case the darkness should descend again.

This site is part of my healing journey and is also a gift to you to help you on your journey through through depression.
